{"id":163,"date":"2021-11-14T23:40:57","date_gmt":"2021-11-15T07:40:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/commons.royalroads.ca\/childthrive\/?page_id=163"},"modified":"2021-12-02T08:25:59","modified_gmt":"2021-12-02T16:25:59","slug":"activity-4-do-we-want-it-or-need-it","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/commons.royalroads.ca\/childthrive\/activity-4-do-we-want-it-or-need-it\/","title":{"rendered":"Activity 4 : Do we want it or need it?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Activity 4 : Do we want it or need it?<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Why we like it:<\/strong> This activity helps students understand the difference between<br \/>\nneeds and wants and to make the connection between needs and rights.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What you will need:<\/strong> A small suitcase, box, or tote bag filled with items or images<br \/>\nof the items with tags (including articles to the Convention of the Rights of the<br \/>\nChild \u2013CRC) as shown in the table below from UNICEF.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How long:<\/strong> 10-15 min<\/p>\n<p><strong>How it works:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Students will need to decide together whether the item is something we need or something we want and why?<\/li>\n<li>The facilitator will ask questions and make comments. For example, \u201cDo we<br \/>\nneed bottled water? This item represents clean water. Do you think we need<br \/>\nclean water? Why?
