{"id":552,"date":"2022-01-20T13:07:58","date_gmt":"2022-01-20T21:07:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/commons.royalroads.ca\/childthrive\/?page_id=552"},"modified":"2022-01-20T14:43:58","modified_gmt":"2022-01-20T22:43:58","slug":"activity-11-we-are-all-migrants","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/commons.royalroads.ca\/childthrive\/activity-11-we-are-all-migrants\/","title":{"rendered":"Activity 11: We are all migrants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Context<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The episode <em>We are all Migrants<\/em> is the latest from <em>Contectamig\u00fcis,<\/em> a web series created by partners in Ecuador <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/juegoenescena.wordpress.com\/?fbclid=IwAR01hgeqO9vZ3XCA1oV6FAxXW4hWVPPT3e40-pV_N9F_TGCVTdK2KVSLzug\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Juego en Escena <\/span><\/i><\/a>and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.agonteatro.com\/producciones.html\">Agon Teatro<\/a><\/em> (producers).<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> The IICRD and Child Thrive educators are\u00a0 glad to work in collaboration with artists in Ecuador to bring<em> Contectamig\u00fcis<\/em> to schools around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rigo, Tina, Laxi, and Pato are four children who met at a school in Ecuador and, due to various circumstances, had to migrate within and outside the country. These four friends are committed to maintaining their friendship at a distance and every week they make a video call where they share their concerns and learn new things.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">During the first season, their conversations always turned to issues related to preventive health: sedentary lifestyle, healthy eating, excessive use of screens and the importance of hand hygiene.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">However, these friends still have much more to say, to explore, and to learn from each other. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We are all Migrants<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is the first chapter of a new series focused on migration, inclusion, and identity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why we like it:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Through this video students can explore migration, belonging, identity, and social-emotional learning. Other areas to explore are wellness, connection to nature, friendship, and community-building.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What you need:\u00a0<\/strong>Video and activity book<\/p>\n<p><strong>How long:<\/strong> 20 min for film screening and 20-30 minute discussion\/activities<\/p>\n<p><strong>How it works:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Invite students to watch the short film.
