Mike is an Executive Coach and Organizational Development Consultant whose work interests currently serve the Canadian Department of Defence. Atkins believes that in today\u2019s VUCA (Volatile, Unpredictable, Complex, and Ambiguous) world, the speed an organization learns must be faster than the speed of change. His doctoral research will investigate how the proponents are arguing for investments in systems of corporate governance, risk management and compliance (“GRC”), as part of the investments in ESG (environmental, social and governance) initiatives, when there is no real way to determine, never mind demonstrate, the societal benefit over the internal costs for them, and, using critical discourse analysis (“CDA”) as a research method, determine why they would choose particular words and phrase them in particular ways as they put their arguments forth to advance their objectives. In the RCAF headquarters as a Director, he helped optimize a multi-billion-dollar enterprise with over 400 aircraft and 20,000 personnel.
