Juan Navarro is a researcher, educator, and entrepreneur with more than 20 years of combined experience in international business, finance, economics, trade, and investment. He is the President and Principal Researcher at CMX Partnerships. As a researcher, his reports on trade and investment issues in the context of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) have been published by leading universities, research centers, and global organizations. As an educator, Navarro has served as an associate faculty member at business schools at several universities, including Royal Roads University (RRU).<\/p>\n
As President of CMX Partnerships, Navarro has led high-profile research projects for organizations seeking to strengthen economic integration across North America, the Asia-Pacific region, and Europe. He has served as a speaker at international forums in Canada, Mexico, Japan, Australia, the United States, Chile, and Germany; facilitated collaborative agreements between Canadian organizations and international partners; led trade missions; provided consultancy services to governments and companies; and organized business conferences that promote cross-border collaboration and partnerships. Prior to immigrating to Canada, Navarro served for ten years as an economist at the Bank of Mexico, where he conducted economic analysis and managed external relations activities.<\/p>\n
Navarro is an active member of the Canadian International Council (CIC), the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT) and the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance (VIEA). He collaborated with the World Bank Institute as a member of the panel of experts assessing high impact entrepreneurial projects in developing countries in 2016 and 2017. He has volunteered as a mentor at Futurpreneur Canada for the past seven years providing business guidance to young Canadian entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n
Navarro was selected as one of the top 75 finalists in the RBC Canadian Immigrant Awards for two years in a row (2018 & 2019), which recognizes inspirational immigrants who have made a positive impact in their communities since their arrival to Canada. In 2019, Futurpreneur Canada selected him as one of the top five mentors at this national program due to his contribution advising young entrepreneurs. Navarro is the recipient of the RRU Founders\u2019 Award (2015).<\/p>\n
Navarro\u2019s doctoral research aims to contribute to improving the architecture of trade policy and enrich the framework of new generation trade agreements to support supply chain endurance that benefit Canadian SMEs by identifying key chapters, disciplines and clauses and proposing new content in trade deals that should be considered to tackle future supply chain disruptions.
