Elizabeth Nguyen is the Executive Director of Corporate Services for the Regina Police Service. A recent recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee award for her contributions to policing, Nguyen has focused her career on advancing equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in policing organizations.<\/p>\n
Nguyen is a champion and advocate for EDI in her community and workplace through teaching, presentations, and workshops. She is a lecturer at the University of Regina Levene Graduate School of Business, teaching the classes \u201cManaging Diversity\u201d, \u201cManaging People in Organizations\u201d, and \u201cGroup Dynamics in Organizations\u201d. Nguyen has created and taught courses on Unconscious Bias and Organizational Culture to employees of the Regina Police Service, and has recently started teaching her Unconscious Bias course to new police recruits province-wide at the Saskatchewan Police College.<\/p>\n
Nguyen\u2019s doctoral research will examine diversity-related organizational change (DROC) in policing with a change management lens including a focus on how police officers are making sense (i.e. sensemaking) of DROC, how police leaders are communicating the vision of DROC (i.e. sensegiving), and what interruptions exist between these two processes (i.e. sensebreakers). Applying this research in practice provides a framework for police leaders to communicate and implement DROC in a way that is accepted by police employees, create meaningful reform that addresses the diverse and complex changes in policing, and ensure sustainability for future generations.<\/p>\n
