William Fung grew up in Vancouver before returning to Hong Kong for a quarter-century. Fung has served in financial and general management roles in corporations as well as not-for-profit organizations, and has volunteered in board director and treasurer capacities for organizations both in Hong Kong and in Greater Vancouver.<\/p>\n
His doctoral research will investigate\u00a0how the proponents are arguing for investments in systems of corporate governance, risk management and compliance (“GRC”), as part of the investments in ESG (environmental, social and governance) initiatives, when there is no real way to determine, never mind demonstrate, the societal benefit over the internal costs for them, and, using critical discourse analysis (“CDA”) as a research method, determine why they would choose particular words and phrase them in particular ways as they put their arguments forth to advance their objectives.<\/p>\n
Fung holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of British Columbia (1993) and an Executive Master of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business, the University of Western Ontario (2005).
