Bali Rai is a doctoral student in Social Sciences at Royal Roads University, Victoria, Canada. His dissertation aims to explore the interrelationships between the ancestors (human beings), nature (all Creation), and the spirits (cosmos) through the Indigenous Worldviews of the Bayung (Bahing) Rai people of Nepal.<\/p>\n
Born and raised in Nepal \u2013 a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, multi-religious, and multi-lingual country, Bali represents one of the 59 Indigenous nationalities or groups (as recognized by the government) called \u2018Kirat Rai nationality or community\u2019. His working experiences comprise diverse areas, including academia, Indigenous organizations, and non-profit organization. He is currently working as a Research Assistant at Royal Roads University. He worked as a secretary at Nepalese Canadian Association of Waterloo Region (NCAWR), a non-profit organization, in Waterloo from 2016 to 2019. Prior to immigrating to Canada in 2015, he worked for the Indigenous communities, particularly Kirat Rai community, being involved in different Indigenous organizations from 1999 to 2007. From 2007 to 2009, he taught undergraduate English at Kathmandu Shiksha Campus in Kathmandu, Nepal.<\/p>\n
