Danielle is a settler of mixed European descent, privileged to call home the traditional and unceded land of the Stz’uminus First Nation, in what is now known as Ladysmith. She is the mother of two young sons who manage to keep her both young at heart and rapidly aging, and the partner of a supportive husband, on whom she has the same effect.
As a rurally trained family physician, Danielle’s work, combined with seeing the world through her children’s eyes, has intensified her concerns about climate change and inspired her to enter the MACAL program. This journey has reshaped her understanding of her connection to the Earth and has led her to embrace the discomfort of acknowledging both her complicity and need for humility in the face of the climate crisis. Danielle hopes to continue working at the intersection of health and planetary health within medical education, recognizing that these areas are inseparable.
