    Julie Simonsen is a lifelong learner with a deep curiosity for discovery and innovation. Driven by a commitment to resilience and climate action, she’s researching the potential for climate centric serious games to support an equitable energy transition, through inclusive co-design processes.

    Julie’s academic journey reflects her wide-ranging interests and dedication: she holds a Master’s in Educational Technology from UBC, a Post-Baccalaureate in Communications from SFU, and a Bachelor’s in Computer Information Systems from the University of the Fraser Valley. She’s also close to completing a Master’s in Climate Action Leadership at Royal Roads University, where she’s been learning about pathways where Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Western knowledge respectfully intersect.

    As a Senior Business Continuity Manager at BC Hydro within the Security and Emergency Management group, Julie contributes to enhancing organizational resilience, supporting a robust approach to crisis preparedness. Outside of her professional life, Julie finds inspiration in nature, whether mountain biking, foraging for mushrooms, or enjoying a quiet walk along the seawall. Her dedication to resilience, both professionally and personally, continually guides her journey as a learner and leader.
