National Coming Out Day marks the anniversary of the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights which was held on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=J_ndR7wJnww\">October 11, 1987<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It is a day that celebrates the strength and courage of those who have come out (and who continue to on a daily basis). It is a day that helps to develop safer spaces for those who are considering coming out. It is a day that educates and raises awareness of a person\u2019s ability to be themselves without judgement or discrimination.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on the history of National Coming Out Day, please explore the Human Rights Campaign\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrc.org\/\"> website<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrc.org\/resources\/national-coming-out-day\">resources<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At Royal Roads, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.royalroads.ca\/rru-proud\">RRU Proud<\/a> hosts Positive Space Network workshops at various times throughout the year, both online and face-to-face. This is a low-risk interactive workshop that engages participants in discussion around language, culture and assumptions. Participants are introduced to skills and strategies that will help them contribute to the creation of safer and more inclusive environments for all members of the Royal Roads community.
