I am required to conduct research as part of the requirements for an MA degree in Applied Linguistics. This research is being conducted under the supervision of Dr. Li-Shih Huang. More specifically, this study intends to examine linguistic features in this particular type of assignment produced by CL1 and EL1 business students. This project also explores the business instructors\u2019 perceptions of the case-report writing by these two groups of students.<\/p>\n<p>My project is titled \u2018Chinese-as-a-First-Language (CL1) and English-as-a-First-Language (EL1) Undergraduate Business Students\u2019 Case-Report Writing in Canadian Universities: A Corpus-Driven Contrastive Study of Linguistic Features. \u2019The goal of this project is to investigate how CL1 and EL1undergraduate business students write differently in business case-report assignments. More specifically, this study intends to examine linguistic features in this particular type of assignment produced by CL1 and EL1 business students. This project also explores the business instructors\u2019 perceptions of the case-report writing by these two groups of students.<\/p>\n<p>If you decide to participate in this project, you will complete a 10-minute background survey. You are free to skip any questions you do not want to answer. By the end of the survey, you will be instructed to upload an electronic version of your business case-report assignment in PDF or MS-Word document format. The business case-report assignments can be short essays, reports, or term papers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You can find the survey <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.ca\/r\/2556N72\">here<\/a>.
