The global fight against climate change needs everyone. The recent report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued a “code red for humanity.”  It is not too late to meet the Paris Agreement 1.5-degree target, but we are rapidly running out of time. The race to zero emissions, and the race to build resilience is imperative for us all.

On Friday, September 24, there will be another global climate strike.

I have asked our academic teams to join me in supporting these events by allowing students who wish to participate in the opportunity to do so.

We are also supporting staff members who wish to attend the events. We know our Royal Roads University faculty and staff have a tremendous appetite for an active response to the climate emergency. I’m proud of our community’s commitment to addressing difficult challenges.

Thanks to everyone for their support and participation in Royal Roads University’s commitment to climate action.
