The Social Implications of Agri-genomics: Ensuring a Just Transition to Climate-resilient Agricultural and Food Systems in Canada research project studies how new food production technologies that use agri-genomics can help economies grow, while also making progress toward social justice and sustainability goals. The project website can be found here:
The research involves the development of tools, including:
- A scenario modelling tool for examining how the development of agri-genomic food assets may contribute or create trade-offs for local and regional sustainable food systems.
- A greenhouse gas calculator for calculate the greenhouse gas emissions from agri-genomic food production in comparison to conventional agricultural production.
Once developed, these tools will be made open access and available from this site.
