Assignment 4: Climate Adaptation Change Leadership Action Plan (Individual)

This assignment requires you to submit a plan for the implementation of some type of climate adaptation and mitigation change initiative. You may use your own community, organization, or any other existing organization with which you are very familiar. Your plan should include the following sections:

Requirements:

  • Provide the background of the climate adaptation challenge.
  • Provide a community or organization analysis and describe in detail the need for change.
  • Provide a vision statement in which you detail what you want the climate adaptation change initiative to accomplish. Link your project to the strategic thinking and planning in your community or organization and demonstrate briefly how your climate adaptation change initiative will move the community or organization toward its strategic goals.
  • Provide a detailed description of the means (training programs, processes and technologies) you will use to bring about the change.
  • Using the 5C Model (Page, 2011) or the Four Frames (Bolman & Deal, 2017) for your analysis, complete the list of recommendations that you will use for your project.
  • Ensure that your change plan is considered within the context of the community or organizational culture.
  • Ensure that the leverage points are identified within the system.
  • Develop an implementation plan, including timelines.
  • Integrate the learning from the readings, online discussion, and insight from personal leadership learning into the implementation plan.

Before submitting this integrated assignment, have a draft reviewed by at least one other student. Once reviewed, add the peer review as an appendix before uploading your assignment.

Use currently accepted APA standards to format all citations and references. Assignment maximum 2,000 words. The paper will cite at least seven recognized academic sources.

Assessment Criteria:

In this assignment, you are expected to:

  • Examine personal beliefs and worldview with a critical lens to develop solutions, strategies, and recommendations (Learning outcome 2.1);
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary discussions and collaboration: demonstrates knowledge and practice of group dynamics and facilitation; redirects conflict into productive problem solving; seeks to understand multiple and alternative perspectives (learning outcome 4.3);
  • Mobilize knowledge to share, reuse, and contribute to the commons: utilizes open resources and licencing in re-using and sharing content within the commons; creates and contributes to the commons; practices open and digital pedagogies (learning outcome 5.3);
  • Monitor and reflect on self-awareness, self-confidence, and perseverance to improve professional practice and policies (learning outcome 6.1).
