Cammie Jaquays

Cammie, MBA (Concordia) is Professor Business, Entrepreneurship and Leadership at Niagara College. Cammie has 20 years of university and college teaching experience, fostering an environment of experiential learning and innovative ideation. While at Trent University, prior to joining Niagara College, Cammie designed, implemented, and directed the School of Business Internship Program, integrating academic learning with experiential work-integrated education, in addition to creating the annual Trent Entrepreneurship Week which is now, once the pandemic allows, an annual event for Niagara College entrepreneurship students. Cammie was nominated by students and approved by Senate for the prestigious Trent 2016 Award for Educational Leadership and Innovation. Cammie incorporates a mix of creative instructional approaches in the classroom and possess the Level III – Creative Leadership Training, from The International Center for Studies in Creativity, SUNY. Creativity is the precursor to innovation, and it is critical that students not only learn to think, but also discover their inner creativity, resilience and resourcefulness, a marketable skill for both entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs alike. Last fall, while searching for new ways to engage students remotely, Cammie created the (now annual) NC Sustainability Hackathon, an online event that matches students with entrepreneurs to create winning Sustainable Solutions. There is a joy in bringing the classroom alive and encouraging divergent thinking. The fun lies in discovering these new paths and seeing the students smile!

Cammie is excited to begin the RRU DocSocSci program, researching the intersectionality of Creativity, Sustainability, and Indigenous Knowledge.
