Boozhoo. Mizhikiibinesiik indigo. My english name is Jana-Rae Yerxa. I am from Couchiching First Nation. My educational background includes a Master of Social Work degree from Lakehead University and a Master of Arts degree, in Indigenous Governance, from the University of Victoria. As a post-secondary educator, published writer and poet, I ground my work in Indigenous feminisms and decolonial frameworks. My research interests center Indigenous health and well-being, from an Indigenous Governance framework of relationality between my people and other living beings. Currently, I live in Fort Frances, ON, which is situated on our traditional lands. I am faculty in Anishinaabe Gikendaasowin at the Seven Generations Education Institute.
