Kate Nickelchok
Hello, I’m Kate (she/they). I work as a scholar-practitioner in the world of social change and global leadership development in Canada, India and New Zealand. As a university educator and consultant I help learners apply a systems perspective to build sustainable communities around the globe. Using collaborative, interactive (and, dare I say fun?) facilitative tools, I help design programs and services that help organizations thrive in balance with their members, the broader global community, and the environment.
My background consists of multi-sector and international experiences in higher education, governance, leadership development, and social impact. Combined with a love for wandering, I have built a career across sixty countries and five continents.
In my doctoral research, I aim to uphold the values of equity, liberation, justice, and solidarity within social innovation education. Although my field is often well-intentioned, it can inadvertently perpetuate structural inequities without critical reflection. I want my research to both model and promote greater reflexivity, critical self-awareness, and ethical sensitivity to promote more impactful insights and equitable outcomes in how institutions approach social innovation and change.
