Rachel Claus
Rachel Claus is a Research Assistant who works with researchers and organizations to develop evaluation strategies to improve effectiveness. Claus believes that research needs to go beyond knowledge production in order to be useful in solving problems; the process is as important as the product. She has led multiple evaluation processes for organizations, programs and projects across professional fields. In 2021, she supported an evaluation of the CGIAR’s research program on Forests Trees and Agroforestry, which assessed the program’s contributions to key sustainability challenges, including land and ecosystem degradation, and poverty and rural vulnerability. Her research interests and foci include: transdisciplinary sustainability research and research evaluation. Claus’ current research will investigate the extent to which and how evaluation processes contribute to transdisciplinary research effectiveness. This research aims to improve evaluation and research processes to enhance research impact. Claus holds a Master of Science degree in Sustainable Development from Utrecht University in the Netherlands (2015).
