Carina Grajales Veerkamp

    Carina Grajales Veerkamp (She/Her) is an environmental scientist pursuing a Master of Arts in Environment and Management at Royal Roads University. Her research focuses on community-based watershed management, drawing from over six years of experience in riparian ecosystem research and participatory mapping with academics and non-governmental organizations in Mexico. With her background in field research, GIS analysis, and community engagement, she is deeply committed to advocating for environmental justice and continuously learning from/and embracing biocultural diversity.

    Her academic journey includes a Master’s in Integrated Landscape Management (2021) and a Bachelor’s in Environmental Sciences (2014) from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. As a researcher in the TRIAS lab, Carina is actively involved in co-developing an innovative visualization tool for integrated watershed management. Her work is driven by her passion for understanding complex socio-ecological systems and contributing to regenerative solutions for local communities.
