This assignment supports you in developing competency in the following Competency Domains:
Domain 2: Critical, Creative, and Transdisciplinary Thinking
Domain 3: Research Literacy
The purpose of this assignment is to design your personal course of study (COS). To do this, you will use the provided template which includes:
- Overview: a brief of the learning you wish to undertake. This should include a rationale for why this learning is relevant to you personally and professionally.
- Learning Goals & Competencies: a set of learning goals guiding each of the activities covered in this course of study, and the competencies you will acquire as a result of engaging in this learning. These competencies will draw from the Climate Adaptation Competency Framework and the six domains outlined in that framework, and/or additional competencies related to climate mitigation.
- Reading List: a detailed reading list, generated in consultation with your faculty advisor and indicating required and recommended readings and resources relevant to your stated learning goals.
- Learning Activities & Deliverables: a detailed list of the learning activities you wish to undertake to accomplish these learning goals and all relevant deliverables. These deliverables should demonstrate the identified competencies.
- Timeline: a detailed timeline to be accomplished by the end of the CALS 692 course. This timeline will reflect the number of credits (3, 6, or 9) that frame this learning in the COS. At the graduate level, 3 credits reflect 99 hours of learner effort.
Please note that your faculty advisor must approve your course of study based on their assessment of the feasibility and appropriateness of the learning, the learning activities, and the deliverables. This is a pass or resubmit assignment. Once approved you and your faculty advisor will sign a COS agreement (COSA). Your assignment completion timeline will be developed in collaboration with your faculty advisor.
