Assignment 4: Contribution/Participation (Individual)

This assignment supports you in developing competency in the following Competency Domains:

Domain 1: Climate Adaptation and Resilience Literacy

Domain 2: Critical, Creative, and Transdisciplinary Thinking

Domain 5: Communication and Knowledge Mobilization

Domain 6: Change Making Orientation

As part of this course, you are expected to participate in and contribute to a learning community of practice CoP. This CoP provides a social learning environment in an otherwise independent and individual course of study. As part of this participation, are expected to regularly post succinct (100-200 word) summaries of where you are at in your independent study, addressing your progress on milestones and including next steps. This will include a post every week in which you are engaged in your course.

These updates will be posted in a student-specific, individual discussion thread in Moodle. You may also include specific requests for feedback on aspects of your learning journey. You will also be expected to read, reflect on, and contribute to the discussion threads of your peers by offering feedback/feedforward, sharing relevant resources, and responding to their comments and reflections in meaningful and substantive ways. As a member of a CoP, you are responsible for ensuring that no member of the CoP goes without a response to their post, contributing to an ethos of supportive learning for all members.

The intent of these online discussion forums is to energize your own and others thinking and learning, and to push yourself and your peers to deepen your learning, cultivate new insights, and new perspectives, and stay accountable and on track with your COSA. These discussions provide an opportunity to generate and reflect on ideas you may not have previously considered, and questions that may be similar across the individualized courses of study of each member of the CoP. This giving and receiving of feedback and support is part of leadership and open discussions in these forums will support everyone gaining a better understanding of their independent and yet connected foci. When responding to your classmates, you are expected to respond in ways that respect others’ values, perspectives, and world views.

Your faculty advisor will not guide these discussions but will periodically review these conversations and may at times contribute with their own reflections, ideas for resources, and questions for consideration. They will seek evidence that you are participating in a meaningful well and meeting the required competencies.
