The course will deal with recognizing and developing core competencies for leading human resources talent on a worldwide scale. Emphasis will be placed on establishing and sustaining a global business strategy, comparative HR systems, leading cross-culturally, global workforce planning, recruitment and selection, training and development, and motivating and rewarding staff.

Along with the companion course, EXMN655, this course explores explores the business imperativeness of leading with Emotional Intelligence (EI) as it applies to honing one’s personal style and approach to leadership, developing high performing teams, and positioning organizations for bottom-line success and long term viability. Through assessments and personal coaching sessions, students gain new insights into how they can use the EI competency framework and model to enhance their personal leadership, team capacity, and strategic organizational effectiveness.
EXMN661: Management Consulting – Best Practices
Along with the companion course, EXMN 668, this course focuses on the needs of the consulting client with students developing expertise in the following ‘best practice’ areas: Effective Communication and Team work – with a focus on developing and maintaining a successful client relationship. Project Management – learners are provided with a fundamental knowledge of project management methodologies, tools and disciplines in the context of a management consulting assignment. Change Management, including tools and techniques related to assessing change readiness, understanding absorptive capacity and managing change. This course meets external education requirements of the CMC Canada providing a fast track to qualify for the prestigious CMC global designation.
EXMN668: Management Consulting – Essentials
Along with the companion course, EXMN661, this course focuses on the needs of the consulting client; students develop expertise by performing comprehensive situation assessments which include the crafting of strategies for organizational growth and development. Students also learn how to deliver superior value to their internal or external management consulting clients through the completion of a team based Consulting Practice Review Summary where a boutique, specialized consulting practice model is developed and validated. This course meets external education requirements of the CMC Canada providing a fast track to qualify for the prestigious CMC global designation.
GBLD501: Personal and Theoretical Foundations to Global Leadership
Along with the accompanying foundational residency course GBLD505, this course critically explores the key concepts of global leadership through personal, collective, and theoretical lenses. This includes learning about one’s own cultural ‘lenses’, mental models and the historical structural inequalities, and coming to a broader understanding and integration of approaches to working in a global context. Participants will explore and describe their personal and collective values and goals, establish personal and collective learning plans, and prepare life and self for residency. During this course, a strong emphasis will be placed on building a supportive learning community, thus creating a strong foundation for the program.
HEAL501: Higher Education Leadership in Times of Change
Focuses on leaders’ capacity to influence change. Examines new and emerging models of leadership and considers their implications for the design and organization of post-secondary educational environments. Introduces systems, leadership and change theories. Considers how to inspire and lead innovation to foster student learning and institution-wide success.

Explore what it means to enact pluriversal relationships in educational systems. Deconstruct hierarchal, binary, and authoritative assumptions about relationship in educational systems.
