In this assignment, you will prepare a complete business case for a “live” client provided by the program. Your business case will provide a compelling rationale for undertaking a specific adaptation activity that addresses a priority.
Instructions:
- Consult with your client to gain a better understanding of the organization’s goals, values and decision-making processes;
- Identify the organization’s priority climate risks and opportunities;
- Through research, identify a minimum of three options for consideration, one of which must be “business as usual”;
- Using the appropriate tool or tools (cost-benefit analysis, cost-effective analysis; multi-criteria analysis, adaptation pathways), conduct a thorough analysis of each of the options identified. The analysis must include a monetary estimation of at least the costs of implementing each option, and must appropriately include either sensitivity analysis or scenario analysis;
- Identify the risks associated with each option;
- Create a high-level implementation plan;
- Compile your work into the business case template.
Requirements:
- Your business case may not exceed 3500 words, and should closely follow the business case template developed by Australia’s Coastal Climate Adaptation Decision Support;
- All external sources must be acknowledged using the currently accepted APA format (APA 7th edition for 2021) for in-text citations and references;
- The assignment must be submitted on or before the due date;
- Include a copy of of your Excel file, showing your analysis.

- Identify needs and opportunities for change (Learning Outcome 6.3);
- Identify, craft and apply future adaptation scenarios (Learning Outcome 6.3);
- Champion and lead change (Learning Outcomes 6.3).
