Extends the fundamental principles and knowledge of coaching into the context of coaching work teams. Emphasizes the development of core knowledge, skills, and competencies related to team coaching, and distinguishes team coaching from other forms of help such as group coaching, facilitation, and team building. The course culminates in the creation of an individualized model of team coaching, enabling students to more effectively and competently coach work teams in organizations. ADVC630: Somatic Coaching
Offers existing personal and professional coaches a practical approach for deepening and enhancing the quality and impact of their coaching relationships by integrating the wisdom of the whole body – somatic presence and awareness. Emphasis is placed on a blend of theory and the science behind a somatic and presence-based approach to coaching. By integrating a variety of practices, students will develop their own unique somatic orientation to their coaching approach. Additionally, students will learn ways to develop the skills, capacity, and quality of full-body presence within themselves, furthering their own professional growth and development.
ADVC635: Creating Coaching Cultures
Building upon your experience as a professional coach, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of the complexities related to integrating coaching as a cornerstone of organizational culture. You will learn how to align coaching with strategic initiatives in order to maximize knowledge sharing, build capacity and increase organizational performance. Using applied, practical methods, you will explore the challenges of implementing a coaching culture within an organizational context and identify opportunities to drive organizational change.
ADVC660: The Psychology of Coaching
Considers how psychology can enrich Coaching and Coaching practice. Explores a series of proven coaching techniques and interventions drawn from various schools of psychology. Provides students with evidence based perspectives through which to observe and understand their coaching practice. Students will benefit from opportunities to apply these with the aim of deepening and broadening their practice. Seminars will be led by the student teams.
ADVC670: Ethics and the Coaching Profession
Highlights ethical issues pertaining to the profession of coaching and the various ethical requirements of a professional coach. Students will explore ethical and morally problematic circumstances through a variety of contexts including how professional coaches conduct themselves in situations involving public safety and public trust, privacy and confidentiality, honesty or deception, informed consent, objectivity and conflicts of interest, and whistle blowing.
BUSA506: Strategy
Explores new mental models that foster a strategist perspective required by business practitioners responsible for crafting and executing an organization’s strategy. Students will explore and think critically about the core strategic notions, concepts, tools, models and theories required by managers to manage and lead their organizations in today’s challenging, turbulent ecosystem. The thread throughout the course will be a need for all organizations to reposition themselves to accommodate this new Internet of Everything Industrial Age.
BUSA523: Corporate Finance
This course will develop your competence in important financial management concepts to understand that all business decisions involve some type of financial analysis. Coverage of the underlying principles required for an understanding of finance as it applies to business and corporations will be the focus. Key topics include time value of money, capital market theory and capital budgeting.
BUSA612: Sustainability for Business Leaders
This course empowers business leaders to integrate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations and climate action into strategic decision-making. Students will delve into frameworks for assessing and enhancing ESG performance, with a focus on climate risk management, sustainable innovation, and regulatory compliance. The course explores the role of business leaders in driving organisational change towards sustainability and addresses strategies for creating positive social impact while achieving financial goals. Through case studies, interactive discussions, and real-world applications, students will develop the skills to lead effective ESG initiatives and contribute to climate action within their organisations. Takes a management-centered approach to thinking about operations by focusing on performance improvement and how operations can support organization strategy. While the course places a particular emphasis upon the lean management approach, key concepts and techniques of operations and supply chain management are discussed in the context of solving operational problems and looking for better ways to deliver customer value.
