Live session 3 notes

by Craig Brown.

Hi all,

Thanks for a wonderful session this morning (recording added to Media Gallery). I know it was a lot of information and so please do not hesitate to reach out if you are not finding your bearings for Assignment 2 by Wednesday evening and we can meet to discuss. I do not want to impose a mandatory live session to respect people's limited working time through the week, but we can explore our options.

Please use the readings listed under Unit 3 to get inspired for Assignment 2. I just added a resource from the City of Ottawa that pretty well exemplifies the process that we were discussing in class today. It is extremely detailed, and can therefore be a little overwhelming, and even misleading at times, but it serves as a good example to get your bearings. The CCME reading from Unit 2, my video interview with Ewa Jackson (and accompanying slides, which are re-attached here) can also help you as you work through whatever resource you chose. Remember that there are many roads to Rome--the Canmore example from the Unit 3 list is great, but differs considerably from the Ottawa example, and from the approach used by the Tsleil-Waututh Nation. Please reach out if you are uncertain whether a source you are considering is appropriate for the assignment.
