Unit 1: Context Matters – What is the goal & who is the audience for an assessment?          Jan 3 – Jan 13 (Weeks 1, 2)
Weeks 1 & 2 Read Unit 1 Readings. The readings in Unit 1 focus on understanding the foundations of knowledge, and the way that we each bring our unique set of experiences and identities to our research and work. This includes time spent learning about Indigenous knowledge systems, including their role in climate risk assessment processes.

Week 3 & 4 Read Unit 2 Readings. The readings for this unit focus on building your practical knowledge around climate risk assessment methods and approaches.
Week 4 – January 22 Due: Assignment 1: Decolonizing Methodologies and Indigenous Knowledge (Individual) 15%
Unit 3: Climate Risk Assessment, Impact Assessment, and Vulnerability Assessment          Jan 30 – Feb 17 (Weeks 5, 6, 7)
Week 5, 6 & & Read Unit 3 Readings. These readings provide examples of completed assessment from a variety of sectors and settings and at scales ranging from the local to the national.
Week 5 – February 5 Due: Assignment 2: Critical Evaluation of Climate Assessment Typologies (Individual) 20%
Week 7 – February 18 Due: Assignment 3-Part 1: Climate Change Assessment (Team) 10%
 
Unit 4: Introducing Climate Risk Management and Adaptation          Feb 20 – Mar 3 (Weeks 8, 9)
Week 8 & 9 Read Unit 4 Readings. The readings this unit shift the focus to action – once you have assessed risk, how do you move forward to address that risk? As the unit description states, just as there are many approaches to climate risk assessment, so too are there many approaches to climate risk management and adaptation. The readings provide some insights into a range of these options and the theoretical and practical questions that guide them.
Week 9 – March 5 Due: Assignment 3-Part 2: Climate Change Assessment (Team) 30%
Unit 5: Risk Assessment Debrief          Mar 6 – Mar 10 (Week 10)
Week 10 Read Unit 5 Readings. These readings present a variety of perspectives on translating knowledge into action, creating change, and the role of researchers in contributing to solutions.
Week 10 – March 11 Due: Assignment 4: Assessment and Adaptation Priorities Presentation (Individual) 15%
