Team Agreement

Spread the love

In keeping with established best practices, each team will be expected to draft a team agreement.

Instructions

In your team, prepare a team agreement that consists of the following components:

  1. How you interact with each other in the online environment, and virtual meetings: This includes how you share the space – talking and listening in ways that allow for everyone to contribute.
  2. How you make decisions – remembering that most effective teams will opt for democratic (e.g., consensus) approaches but will need to determine ways to manage deadlocks or address decision making when time constraints are very tight.
  3. How you recognize, uncover, and address or engage with conflict when it arises in ways that recognize that conflict is normal and can be productive. Conflict often arises either when working or personality styles clash, or when new ideas are raised that may not reflect the majority but might provide an important minority or novel perspective. It is important to recognize that no one style is better than another, they are simply different. Effective teams understand this and create opportunities for work that reflect these different preferences.
  4. How you understand the instructions, underlying concepts etc. Make explicit your individual understandings in order to come to a shared understanding.
  5. How you share tasks (i.e., divide and conquer) in ways that maximize every team member’s learning while also moving effectively towards specific outcomes and outputs.

Requirements

Submit your team agreement at the end of week 2 into the assignment dropbox.

Assessment criteria

The assessment of your team agreement will be part of your participation mark. The instructor will provide written feedback, but the agreement is not marked separately.
