Malcolm’s doctoral research is focused on eliminating food insecurity through enhanced supply chain optimization using blockchain technology. As per the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, roughly 850 million people do not have daily secure access to the food they require. However, there is enough food to feed more than the current population. The research opportunity is to explore, examine and eliminate the current gap. Meeting this need can result in the growth of healthier children, families, and societies. Blockchain is a nascent technology with the potential to address the issue of food insecurity. Blockchain is currently known as the underlying technology in finance, primarily crypto currencies. However, the underlying basis of a secure distributed ledger is a potential to matching demand to supply in the food chain.
Malcolm holds a B.A. (Political Science) from Carleton University in Ottawa and an MBA (Management of Technology and Innovation) from Ryerson University in Toronto. He currently resides in Oakville, Ontario.
