Brent Janke
M.A.Sc., PMP, CMQ/OE, ICD.D, P.Eng.
A senior executive with extensive experience leading transformational change that empowers people to achieve significant improvements in business results. Respected for focus on people, safety, culture, and operational excellence with over 30 years of experience that includes work with Suncor Energy, ExxonMobil, and Imperial Oil. Brent’s experience has spanned Western Canada (including conventional production and both mining and thermal oilsands), Atlantic Canada, United States, and Nigeria and leading organizations up to 6000 people.
An experienced, people-focused operational leader who truly believes that an organization’s greatest results are achieved through the empowerment of its people. Known for a relentless commitment to culture building; one where everyone feels valued, respected, and appreciated for the work they do and where they can do their best work every day.
An engineer by training (University of Regina) and a leader by choice, Brent is a student, practitioner, and coach of leadership and the power that good leadership has on individuals and the organization as a whole. Creator of the Leadership Lab, Brent writes and shares leadership thoughts, ideas, and training through the website Leadershiplab.ca, in virtual lab settings, and most recently in his podcasts (i.e. Leadership Lab, and Safety Starts With Me).
Brent has founded Noble Solutions Leadership Consulting, a consulting firm focused on organizational improvement, leadership development, safety, and executive coaching to assist others in becoming even better leaders. Additionally, Brent teaches at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in the Business School where he focuses on leadership. Brent’s goal remains to help others achieve their goals.
As an author, Brent has written several books with the most influential being, “A Better Way to Lead,” “The Leadership Lab Daily Reader,” and the upcoming “Excellence Starts With Me” that explores themes of people-centric leadership, excellence, and personal improvement.
Brent currently sits on the Board of the Safety Codes Council in Alberta and the Advisory Board for the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Regina and has previously sat on numerous other boards and foundations. Brent also continues to mentor students and industry professionals.
Brent holds several industry certifications such as the Project Management Professional, PMP, (Project Management Institute), Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence , CMQ/OE, (American Society of Quality), and Institute of Corporate Directors, ICD.D. And previously held the Certified Quality Engineer, CQE, and Personal Training Specialist, PTS, designations.
