J-F Dore
J-F Dore is a member of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), with over 25 years of service as an Engineer Officer. J-F has commanded at the squadron level and taught young officers at the tactical level. He has also worked with international military partners to develop the CAF’s capabilities and strengthen and develop partnerships with allies. J-F has also deployed internationally to Afghanistan twice in the early 2000’s. He currently supports the CAF efforts in the Canadian North as a staff officer at the Canadian Joint Operations Command. His experience as an instructor and CAF ambassador has taken him around the world and given him a unique perspective on leadership, learning and relationship building.
J-F graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Then, after more than 15 years out of the academic world, he decided to return to school to complete a master’s degree in business and administration at the University of Ottawa in 2019. In 2020, J-F was selected to attend the Joint Command and Staff Program at the Canadian Forces College in Toronto, and obtained a master’s degree in defence studies from RMC. These two experiences sparked his curiosity to continue his academic journey at the doctoral level.
J-F intends his research to understand the key factors and obstacles in organizational/institutional learning in governmental organisations, specifically the CAF. His focus will be to address gaps in the CAF’s learning strategies, structures and human resources systems as it relates to unwanted friction in the organisational learning process
