Peter Rasquinha
Peter Rasquinha is an instructor at the Computer Information Systems department and a systems analyst at the Information Technology Services (ITS) department, both at the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, BC. As an instructor, Rasquinha teaches in the Bachelor of Computer Information Systems program. Rasquinha believes that by using best pedagogical practices, students can be actively engaged, trained for academic success and provided with practical skills for employment.
As a systems analyst, Rasquinha assists the Office of the Registrar manage part of the student information system applications. Rasquinha believes that by applying current thinking in organizational institutionalism, his research can assist the ITS department understand not only the interactions between its technical and service staff, but also how these interactions affect the services it provides to the university stakeholders.
His doctoral research interests are in the institutional logics metatheory within the area of the microfoundations of organizational institutionalism, specifically the Pache and Santos framework that deals with how professionals and others respond to competing institutional logics. The overarching research question for this doctoral study is “What are the institutional logics that influence a university Information Technology staff and how the staff responses to these logics affect service delivery: A Mixed Methods Study”.
Rasquinha is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP, 2007), a certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA, 2009), and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CMA, 2015). He holds a Master of Science in Physics (IIT, 1992), a Master of Science in Computer Applications (NITK, 1995), a Master of Business Administration (UBC, 2006), and a BC Provincial Instructor Diploma (VCC, 2010).
