Activity 11: We are all migrants

Context

The episode We are all Migrants is the latest from Contectamigüis, a web series created by partners in Ecuador Juego en Escena and Agon Teatro (producers). The IICRD and Child Thrive educators are  glad to work in collaboration with artists in Ecuador to bring Contectamigüis to schools around the world.

Rigo, Tina, Laxi, and Pato are four children who met at a school in Ecuador and, due to various circumstances, had to migrate within and outside the country. These four friends are committed to maintaining their friendship at a distance and every week they make a video call where they share their concerns and learn new things.

During the first season, their conversations always turned to issues related to preventive health: sedentary lifestyle, healthy eating, excessive use of screens and the importance of hand hygiene.

However, these friends still have much more to say, to explore, and to learn from each other. We are all Migrants is the first chapter of a new series focused on migration, inclusion, and identity.

Why we like it:  Through this video students can explore migration, belonging, identity, and social-emotional learning. Other areas to explore are wellness, connection to nature, friendship, and community-building.
