Activity 7: Child Rights Leadership Cards
Why we like it: This activity helps children to recognize and apply their rights. It can be facilitated as discussion activity or as action projects throughout the year. Activities can be done independently, in groups or as a class.
What you need: Child Rights Cards (We can provide them – if you want a hard copy) – Pink Section. (Source: Equitas).
How long:
- Place a selection of Children’s Rights Leadership Cards on the floor (or walls) around the room with the Children’s Rights’ side facing upwards.
- Invite children to walk around the room and then stand next to the card that is most meaningful to them. Once all children have chosen a spot to stand, they can take turns explaining why they chose the card placed there. This can be repeated with different cards.
- Children can complete the challenge on the card which they selected. (e.g. pick up 2 pieces of garbage every day at school).
Tips & variations: Extension: Invite children to work in groups to create a collage or a skit about the right they chose. More advanced challenges are available in other colours.
