Aman Nasser
Aman Nasser is a Staff Sergeant with the Surrey Police Service and has over 18 years of policing experience. Aman’s current role is a Watch Commander, where he is responsible for support and development of approximately 45 – 50 frontline police officers. On his own time, Aman assists with the training of recruit officers at the Justice Institute of British Columbia as a subject matter expert (SME).
Aman, previously worked for Toronto Police Service, where he proudly served as a member of the Homicide Squad, Hold Up Squad, Gun & Gang Task Force. During his tenure in Toronto, he was qualified by the courts (SCC) as Gang Expert (2012) and has provided expert evidence in numerous gang related trials and delivered lectures at conferences over the last decade.
Originally from Fairford, Manitoba, Aman is a proud member of the Pinaymootang First Nation.
Aman’s doctoral research aims to identify and address gaps in the training standards for police leaders in Canada. His focus will be to explore and identify how police organizations can optimize culture, efficiency, and service delivery through the implementation of various management training models for potential leaders in their respective organizations.
Aman’s aim is to help inform public safety organizations on what type of leadership training (if any) is perceived as the most effective amongst officers to improve their culture and work environment and to further the body of knowledge in this research area.
