Hala Dehais
Hala Dehais is the Associate Dean for SAIT’s School of Hospitality & Tourism. She is a collaborative leader dedicated to advancing hospitality and tourism education through innovative, industry-aligned programs. Dehais partners with educators, industry leaders, and communities to design applied learning experiences that prepare workforce-ready graduates. Dehais has spearheaded the expansion of SAIT’s Hospitality & Tourism Management diploma and degree, driving campus initiatives and aligning curriculum with evolving industry needs.
Dehais has previously held executive roles in marketing and public relations, advancing brand relevance and media engagement across Calgary’s tourism ecosystem. Dehais serves as Chair of the Historical, Interpretive & Education Committee and as a Board Member at Heritage Park Historical Village, and volunteers as a youth rugby coach—demonstrating a commitment to community engagement and lifelong learning.
Research interests include guest experience mindset, inclusive and ethical service design, and community-anchored partnerships. Dehais’s doctoral research will investigate how inclusive storytelling frameworks and community-led partnerships can design engaging experiences across tourism and education. This research aims to contribute to a practical, experience-led strategy model that advances management practice, strengthens talent pipelines, and creates greater community impact.
Dehais holds a Master of Business Administration from Athabasca University (2018), a Management Certificate (Marketing) from the University of Calgary (2014), and a Bachelor of Arts (Leisure, Tourism & Society) from the University of Calgary (2003).
