Jeff Gao is a seasoned finance executive with extensive experience in strategic financial management, governance, and organizational leadership across nonprofit, corporate, and international sectors. Currently serving as Director of Finance at Brantford Native Housing, he oversees financial planning, risk management, and construction project budgeting for initiatives that support Indigenous communities. His leadership has driven operational efficiency, strengthened internal controls, and secured sustainable funding solutions.

Jeff’s academic background includes an MBA in Accounting and Finance from the Schulich School of Business and a Master of Economics from Dongbei University of Finance and Economics. He also holds professional designations as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and Financial Modelling & Valuation Analyst (FMVA®). These credentials reflect his commitment to excellence in financial stewardship and analytical rigour.

With a career spanning senior roles such as Corporate Controller, Manager of Finance Operations, and Chief Finance Officer, Jeff has successfully implemented cost-saving strategies, mentored high-performing teams, and led compliance initiatives. His global experience in insurance and financial services complements his current focus on nonprofit housing, where he applies strategic insights to address complex social challenges.

Jeff’s research interests center on Indigenous housing solutions and sustainable financial models for community development, aligning with his professional mission to create lasting social impact. As a CPA Mentor, he actively supports the next generation of finance professionals, fostering ethical leadership and technical expertise. Through the DBA program at Royal Roads University, Jeff aims to integrate academic research with practical strategies to advance housing equity and organizational resilience.
