June Lulua
June Lulua is an Indigenous health governance professional who works with First Nations, regional health bodies, and government partners to strengthen Indigenous-led health planning and decision-making. Lulua believes that effective and sustainable health systems are grounded in Nation-based governance, regional collaboration, and structured planning approaches that support Indigenous self-determination.
She has worked extensively across Indigenous health systems in British Columbia, supporting governance development, health planning, and relationship-based agreements between First Nations and regional health organizations. Lulua currently serves as Strategic Health Lead for Ulkatcho First Nation and represents the Tsilhqot’in Nation within the Interior Region of the First Nations Health Council governance structure, where she also sits on the Interior Region Nation Executive. Her professional experience includes strategic planning, policy development, governance advisory roles, and cross-jurisdictional collaboration in complex health environments.
Lulua’s research interests include Indigenous health governance, regionalization, leadership, Nation-to-region partnerships, and planning frameworks within complex health systems. Her doctoral research will investigate how structured planning frameworks can strengthen Indigenous health governance and improve alignment between First Nations and regional health authorities. This research aims to contribute to management practice knowledge by identifying governance-informed planning approaches that enhance accountability, coordination, and Indigenous-led decision-making within health systems.
Lulua holds a Master of Management from the University of British Columbia Okanagan (2021) and is currently a Doctor of Business Administration candidate at Royal Roads University.
