Manijeh Talieh-Noori
Manijeh Talieh-Noori is the Ground Systems Manager for the Canadian Multi-Mission Aircraft project at the Department of National Defence (DND). She is responsible for the planning, implementation, and engineering support of Tactical Mobile systems in Canada, collaborating with the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) to ensure seamless delivery and integration of these capabilities in the defence enterprise.
A recipient of the Assistant Deputy Minister (Information Management) Merit Award, Manijeh held positions of increasing complexity and responsibility throughout her military and civilian career, playing a key role in the design, development and delivery of a range of Communications and Information Systems (CIS) and Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (C5ISR) services and solutions.
Manijeh’s doctoral research will investigate the challenges of implementing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the DND/CAF, exploring the potential ethical dilemmas on the use of AI in tactical military decision-making. Her research will focus on the widening gap between the advancement of AI technologies and the development of policies and mechanisms to regulate them. Manijeh aims to contribute to the development of effective control systems and safeguards that promote the responsible and ethical use of AI in tactical military decision-making within the CAF.
Manijeh holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Victoria (2000), a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) Ontario License (2010), and an Executive Master of Business Administration from the University of Fredericton (2017).
