Olubanke Olujide
Olubanke (Bankie) Olujide is a project management professional with over twelve years’ experience cutting across humanitarian logistics, procurement, supply chain, oil and gas, financial services, IT, and municipal government. Bankie is passionate about stakeholder engagement, process improvement, effective project management of change, and the implementation of project management best practices in public sector entities.
Bankie currently works as a project specialist in the project management office of the City of Guelph, a Canadian Municipality. As part of her responsibilities, she works as an advisor to the city’s leadership on corporate initiatives around project management within the city. Along with her team, they also develop processes, standards, regulations, tools, and techniques that assist project managers in maintaining project management standards and adopting project management best practices across their several projects. She is a skilled project manager with experiences in strategic initiatives and organizational change management. Bankie is adept at cultivating an environment of learning and continuous improvement on projects.
Olujide believes that as the right project management standards are employed to maximize shareholder wealth in private enterprises, so should the public sector strive to optimize the use of project management for the purpose of realizing their annual growth and developmental targets in the most cost-effective manner. Due to the slow pace of adoption of project management best practices across not-for-profit organizations like municipal governments, Bankie’s research seeks to develop a framework that may aid the seamless adoption of project management best practices for the city’s numerous projects. Bankie hopes that her research may contribute valuable input to the theory and practice of project management, and it may support municipal governments in becoming more embracing of global best practices in the design, management, and delivery of their project initiatives.
As a practitioner with firsthand experience of the structure, culture, and strategy of the public sector, the opportunity to help engender positive social change for the benefit of multiple stakeholders that are impacted by the diverse activities of their local government is one that she believes justifies the need for a deeper investigation of the subject of her proposed research.
Bankie holds an MBA in Oil and Gas management with distinction from the Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, UK (2017), and an MSc in Business Information Systems management from Middlesex University London, UK (2010). She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute (PMI) USA. She equally holds additional professional qualifications as a Professional Scrum Master (PSM) and a PROSCI certified change practitioner.
