Assignment 4: Contribution/Participation (Individual) 10%

While your instructor will discuss key ideas and raise important issues, much of the learning in this course is guided by dialogue, discussion, and inquiry. In order for this learning experience to be beneficial and worthwhile to everyone, it is imperative that you read the assigned material, participate in all class activities and contribute to the discussions. Conversations and ideas develop best when everyone is fully prepared and present to make meaningful contributions. If you are unable to attend a synchronous session, you are expected to watch the recording of the class, reflect on what you learned, and share these reflections in a discussion forum posting.

Participation during synchronous sessions should be thoughtful, meaningful, timely, and relevant. It should also provide active support to the learning community, by building on ideas shared, acknowledging alternative viewpoints, and respecting the values, perspectives and experiences of others.

Strive to work towards a collaborative, respectful, encouraging, and supportive culture. Comments that show evidence of ongoing negative behaviour or impede the flow of discussion degrade the learning experience and do not advance opportunities for everyone to learn from each other.

Core Participation Activities

  • Complete the required readings for each unit.
  • Post about leadership opportunities (see Unit 1) and comment on others’ posts in the Moodle Unit 1: Course Introductions forum.
  • Attend/review all synchronous sessions and /or advise the instructor you cannot attend which demonstrates a level of responsibility to the cohort and the learning.
  • Participate in discussions during the synchronous sessions.
